Summer 2013 Sewer Credit Application
The sewer credit is for City customers with sewer & water service active on their utility bill.  The sewer credit is based on their average usage from Sept-May.  Example if someone’s average is 3,000 gallons and they use 6,000 gallons in June, they will be billed 6,000 on water and 3,000 on sewer.  The credit is given only for the months of June, July & August.

Our local harbinger of spring . . . the Norway Spring is on and open to the public! It's been tested as being one of the best tasting, clear, free-flowing waters in the state, and is located just west of Norway on Highway 2. Just bring your jugs to fill up.
ORV's in the city limits
To operate an ORV in the city limits of Norway without a guardian you must be:
18 years old or possess a valid driver's license and ORV Safety Certificate. Violaters will be cited with fines and fees in excess of $100.

Riding adjacent to the railroad tracks is trespassing on railroad property and subject to charges.

Copies of the ordinance & maps are available at the Norway Police Department during regular office hours.

WARM WEATHER

Fishing/Boating/Kayaking/Canoeing
Sturgeon River Dam boat launch can be accessed at the site by taking U.S. 2 southeast of Vulcan and turning at County 577. Parking available, no charge to launch, no facilities, gravel ramp with steep entry point. Perfect for kayaks, canoes, and small fishing boats.This area of the river is prime for walleye and smallies.

Strawberry Lake: Fishing is allowed. Two, wooden fishing piers are available.  Non-motorized boating is allowed at Strawberry Lake near downtown Norway, but there are no official access ramps.

Menomonee River boat launch at Piers Gorge is located off of Hwy 8 just south of Norway. Take the first left turn off Piers Gorge Rd to find the boat launch. Launch is sandy and fairly shallow. Great kayaking/canoeing spot. It's below the rapids.

Lake Antoine County Park, Iron Mtn: Boating, jet-skiing, swimming, kayaking/canoeing, board surfing, wind surfing, etc. Park also features shelters, band shell, playgrounds and camping.

Hunting

Recreational Biking , Mountain Biking, & Dirt Bike Riding
Fumee Natural Area is located off Route 2, west of Norway on Pine Creek Road.

Hiking/Walking/Running
Strawberry Lake is surrounded by a one mile-walking trail and this trail connects to the City-Wide Loop Trail. See City Trail Map.

Swimming
Hanbury Park, Norway: east end used for swimming.
Lake Antoine County Park, Iron Mountain : east end used for swimming.

Golfing

Birdwatching
The Norway Myr, and Strawberry Lake have viewing areas.

Horseback riding
With many farms in the area, there are many options to take riding lessons. Fumee allows horseback riding.

Rollerblading
The Norway Myr and the continuation of the city loop trail around Norway is primairly asphalt or concrete.

Softball
Softball fields exist at Strawberry Lake and Marian Park.

Especially for Kids
Knights Kingdom is wooden play area for the kids located on the south side of Strawberry Lake.

 

 

COLD WEATHER

Ice Skating
Strawberry Lake skating rink and warming shack are in use near Knights Kingdom.
Free skate rental, city supervised. The shelter is open 3-9 pm weekdays, and 9 am to 9 pm weekends.

Downhill Skiing/Snow Boarding
Norway Mtn is closed for the 2012/13 season.

Ice Fishing
Handbury Lake, south of Route 2.
Strawberry Lake, north on Main Street, near Knights Kingdom
